Extracurricular Activities

One of the main goals of the Humanities Scholars Program is to foster a learning community. To that end, HSP sponsors several extracurricular activities open to scholars throughout the year. Some of these events include, for example, trips to Pittsburgh's downtown theater district where the scholars have seen a number of plays, including the Reduced Shakespeare Company’s Completely Hollywood (Abridged), The Globe Theater's Production of Measure for Measure, and the Pittsburgh Public Theater’s Oedipus the King. Other events include dinners with the class to local restaurants, a trip to Toronto, Canada, to see Faust, and excursions to the Schenley Park Ice Rink. These events are often initiated by the suggestions of scholars in the program.
