Humanities Scholars Program (HSP) students

The Humanities Scholars Program (HSP) is an invitation only, undergraduate initiative to foster superior academic work within the College. Program officers work with university admissions and advising to select a cohort of scholars who are then invited into a program that includes a shared set of classes and a residential component during its first year.

After entering the program scholars take a series of seminar courses for their first two years, which fulfill the General Education requirements. These courses are designed to introduce students to the concerns and methods of humanistic scholarship, including an introduction to case study method, historical discourse and philosophical inquiry. During the third year, students choose a major, fulfill methodology requirements in the program, and begin research on a senior capstone project. In their fourth year, they return to the classroom and complete these research projects, consulting with the program director and their academic advisors.
