Ajay Bhaskarabhatla Cynthia Cryder PH 321 (412) 268-2869 ccryder@andrew.cmu.edu I am interested in factors such as emotion (particularly sadness) and individual differences (particularly "tightwaddism") that influence our daily economic decisions. I am also interested in how decision making changes across the lifespan. I currently work with Jennifer Lerner and George Loewenstein. Alex Davis PH 321 (412) 268-2869 I am working with Carey Morewedge, George Loewenstein, Roberto Weber, and John Miller presently. My main interests are in judgment and behavioral economics, and I am currently empirically investigating topics such as judgments based on memory, social comparison, hot-cold empathy gaps, altruism, theories of gambling pleasure, attribute substitution, reference points, and wage substitutes. His research interests include positive political theory, game theory, quantitative methods, American politics and the role of the media. In his dissertation, he is developing and testing several models of the media and the implications of an outlet\'s incentives. John Hamman Porter Hall 321 (412) 268-2869 jhamman@andrew.cmu.edu I received a bachelor's degree in economics from Arizona State. Currently, I am working with Roberto Weber and George Loewenstein ona project where we compare interpersonal interaction to interaction through third-party agents. My primary interests are (at the moment) experimental applications of game theory and behavioral economics Seunghee Han seunghee@andrew.cmu.edu Leslie John Tamar Krishnamurti Porter Hall 321 (412) 268-2869 tamark@andrew.cmu.edu I received a BS in Biological Anthropology from Carnegie Mellon University and am a doctoral student in the Psychology and Behavioral Decision Research program. My current research interests include the impact of intoxication on judgments and behavior, perceptions of sexual risk among adults and adolescents and sexual and reproductive health decision-making and relevant policy applications. View my home page Peter Kriss PH 321 (412) 268-2869 pkriss@andrew.cmu.edu I have a BA from Swarthmore College in Mathematics with minors in Philosophy and Psychology. Currently, I am working with Roberto Weber and others on projects concerning costly communication and the effects of forecasting on group-determined outcomes. Ju-Sung Lee jusung@andrew.cmu.edu I am primarily interested in using computationally-based methodologies such as simulations and heuristical algorithms for studying various social phenomena. Currently, my research focuses on the evolution of organizational networks (i.e. networks reflecting known organizational forms). The work so far has revealed that sufficiently constrained, virtual organizations executing even the simplest of tasks exhibit extremely complex behavior with subtle regularities and fixed points. My colleagues and I are exposing these regularities through the application of various sequence analysis techniques on the network forms and the patterns of behavior. These virtual organizations may either communicate perfectly or with a degree of error; the latter will reveal more robust organizational forms. Advisor: Kathleen Carley. Paul Litvak Romel Mostafa Porter Hall 321 (412) 268-2869 rmostafa@andrew.cmu.edu Wei Siong Newor PH 321 (412) 268-2869 Nathanial Peterson Porter Hall 321 (412) 268-2869 David Rode rode@andrew.cmu.edu I have a BS in Economics (Finance and Decision Processes) from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and a MS in Behavioral Decision Making and Economics from SDS. I am currently in absentia and working full-time for a consulting firm in Pittsburgh while I finish my dissertation. My research interests tend to involve both descriptive and prescriptive questions in decision-making under uncertainty, with a particular emphasis on financial applications (e.g., valuation, risk perception and risk management, corporate and individual investment behavior). Much of my recent work has involved the electric power sector, and I am also affiliated with the Carnegie Mellon Electricity Industry Center. Advisor: Paul Fischbeck Gabriel Silverman Porter Hall 321 (412) 268-2869 gsilverm@andrew.cmu.edu I received a BA in Cognitive Science and Psychology from Yale. Currently, I am a student in the Medical Scientist Training Program here, through which I am studying to receive an MD from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and a PhD in Behavioral Decision Research from SDS. I am working with Baruch Fischhoff and George Loewenstein on projects relating to medical and public health decision making. Heidi Stayn hstayn@andrew.cmu.edu I have a BA from Harvard University and MSc from The London School of Economics. My primary focus is the social-interpersonal aspects of decision-making behavior. Research interests include effects of expectations, self-regulatory processes, and social perception on decision-making outcomes; decision-making in groups and performance; influences of emotion on judgment; and the influences of technology on judgment and decision-making processes. I am working on projects with several faculty members, including: Bob Kraut, Jennifer Lerner, George Loewenstein, Linda Babcock, and Roberto Weber. Katherine Walker-Smith Porter Hall 321 (412) 268-2869 kwsmith@andrew.cmu.edu I received a BA in Philosophy & Science with a concentration in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. Roughly speaking, I'm interested in how we can use knowledge of normative judgment and decision making to improve information dissemination and public policy. Anne Swift Jessica Wisdom Back to Top |
