Graduate Studies in History

Campus Visit?

We are often asked, "Is a campus visit necessary as part of my application process?" In fact, we do not require applicants to visit Carnegie Mellon and the Department of History. But we have found that campus visits can be mutually advantageous in conveying information about our program and addressing questions about how well our program's goals and faculty interests fit the objectives, interests, and talents of applicants. Thus, the department is happy to arrange appropriate interviews with faculty and current graduate students.

Contact the Director of Graduate Studies via email or phone 412-268-2880 well in advance of when you would like to visit. You can find accurate information on travel to Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon, as well as a campus map, on Carnegie Mellon's Home Page. The Department of History is located in Baker Hall 240.
