Donald Tucker,
Hands-On Productions Project Director
A 42-year-old African-American
male, Donald Tucker is a proponent of Media Literacy at the Community Litearcy
Center. With Tim Flower, Don now leads the CLC's Hands-On Production project.
Here, he and Tim teach teenagers literate strategies for working on problem-solving
teams that create original video productions. These videos are premiered at the
CLC's Community Conversations and then used to present teen perspectives to other
organizations.
Before he came to the CLC, he attended Duquesne University where he
majored in music and then worked around the country for ten years as a
jazz guitarist.
Don now enjoys the chance to work with kids who are growing up in urban
communities, just as he did. He enjoys being a good role model for the
kids and keeping the "community connection" alive at the CLC. He likes
talking with the kids, listening to them, and being instrumental in
shaping their lives.
