Help

In HELP projects, teens identify urgent needs of city neighborhoods by interviewing community residents. They then work with architect mentors from Carnegie Mellon and local design experts to plan and execute a building or renovation project. Past projects include a home repair video for city residents, a playground for tots, a courtyard for senior citizens, and a community garden for local schools. In working towards their goals, teens write and sketch out building plans, conduct video interviews, and draft their own work policies and schedules. Finally, they document their work in a CLC newsletter, presented at a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
