H&SS Academic Advisory Center and H&SS Career Connections

H&SS offers our students a range of services, including an Academic Advisory Center, and the H&SS Career Connections office. Our students enjoy great academic success, as well as outstanding career placement.

The H&SS Academic Advisory Center, in Baker Hall A57, is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm (summer hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm). The advising staff are available to all H&SS students, but they work primarily with freshmen, sophomores, or any undeclared majors. The advisory staff can help you figure out what to major in, course selection and planning, how to plan for studying abroad, meeting your general education requirements, and more. Once you declare a major, primary advising roles shift to your major advisor. However, your AAC advisor remains your college advisor, who partners with your major advisor to guide and support you until you graduate.

H&SS Career Connections, at the Career Center in the lower level of the University Center, is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 am - 5:00 pm. Debra Johnson and Ray Mizgorski are available for help with career planning, selecting a major, finding jobs and internships, resume writing, applying to graduate school, and more. Several events and workshops are planned during the year to help students, and the career consultants also meet with students one-on-one.
