Supported Hardware Models

The models listed below represent equipment that we currently maintain images for and will support. We will certainly provide best effort support for previously supported models, but we would not re-image or manually rebuild the computers if a major software or hardware failure occurred outside of warranty.

PCs

- Dell Latitude D620/630, D820/D830, E4300, E6400/E6500
- Dell Optiplex GX280, GX620, GX745, GX755, GX960

Macs

- PowerPC G5 or any Intel chipset

As technology evolves, our computer support is dynamic along with it. When we introduce support for newer models, we reassess the viability of older models.

Our office has a firm policy of only supporting machines that are CMU-owned and, for now, run Windows XP Pro 32-bit or Windows Vista Enterprise 64-bit.

For Macintoshes, the running OS must be MacOS 10.4 (Tiger) or MacOS 10.5 (Leopard).

For new hardware purchases where the user has the expectation of support from our office, it is critical for us to assist (or even better, originate) the quotes so that we can ensure that the hardware and operating systems comply with these policies and expectations are managed.
